We are sad to know that Professor George Tiao passed away on 4/25/2026. Professor George Tiao is the founding Chair Editor for Statistica Sinica (1988-1993). 

To celebrate the 80th birthday of Professor George Tiao, Statistica Sinica published a special issue in October 2016 (Volume 26, Issue 4) as a tribute.

Our institute has established a memorial webpage to honor his invaluable contributions to the field of statistics worldwide, to Taiwan, and to the Institute of Statistical Science at Academia Sinica. The page also serves as a space for colleagues and friends to share their condolences and cherished memories.
